We'll definitely have to agree to disagree on this point.
I'm a huge fan of PPC and have seen it work in lots of circumstances across lots of industries.
I think the real reason it fails for a lot of people is that quite often it's not configured correctly and there isn't enough attention paid...
Lots of interesting chat on this thread.
(I also work on a VS site so interesting to see other people's opinions on it)
A couple of things to note:
If you're using shopping ads - the feed is absolutely crucial (even more so in Fashion I believe) - so have a really deep dig into that and work...
Hi Dave
One of the most common ways is to use a 'collapse' technique.
For the eBay example, each of the 'categories' would be a single item.
On desktop it's fine to show all the sub items underneath them by default.
But on mobile, you would display just the main category, with an arrow that...
Hi Michael
It really depends on what you're looking to do!
The first questions:
As far as the Top Level Domain (TLD) you use, .com is fine. You may get the slightest of boosts from .co.uk, but there is no significant evidence to prove it'll help you move forward.
That's difficult to say...
Hi Stefan
I think it depends on where your skills or interests lie really.
If you're more technical - out source the creative stuff (content, graphics, link building etc.)
If you're more creative - outsource the technical stuff (site audits, content analysis, competitor monitoring, on page...
There sure is!
It's called the Google Keyword Planner - https://adwords.google.co.uk/KeywordPlanner
There are lots of third party tools too, like http://keyword.io/ for example that might give you some different results.
This is quite an interesting post on using Keyword Planner too if you're...
Are there any caonincal or Hreflang tags on the other sites?
What is there backlink profile like? If they've got loads of powerful backlinks they might well be able to outrank you with worse content.
If they really are duplicating their site without adding some kind of tag to inform search...
It's more about the ratio of duplicate content on each page. If the page has 2000 words of unique content and 50 words duplicate it might not be a huge issue.
If the page is only 300 words long and 50 of those words are duplicated all over your site, it might be a bit more of a problem.
With...
Any half decent CMS will be able to handle your products, subcategories and categories correctly without any duplication... Provided they're set up correctly of course.
The two that I've personally worked with are Magento and Woocommerce, both of which are very SEO friendly when they're set up...
It depends on any number of factors - but make this your number 1 priority.
You'll see some benefit yes - whether you can recover all of that lost authority is a different matter.
If you've changed domains, you could well be in trouble.
If you haven't changed domains - you should be OK. Just...
Wow theyre is an awful lot of conflicting advice in here.
There's a couple of good points - you get what you pay for.
In all honesty it sounds as if you should give this a go yourself first.
Get a Wordpress site up and just play around with it.
It's relatively simple and that knowledge will...
There are a couple of options I normally suggest.
I'm pretty sure Serpbook has a free tier.
As does Pro Rank Tracker.
Either of those should work for you.
**Edit** - Almost forgot Serplab too!
Hi James
One of the best things I've read in the last year or so of working in this field is this ebook from Buzzstream.
Basically goes into why you should promote your content and gives you an idea behind the processes that'll give you the most success...
Easiest way is probably checking your Google Search Console / Webmaster Tools.
It's free - although not hugely accurate - but you'll still get a good idea of what you're ranking for.
I believe you can also track some terms for free with serplab.co.uk
All you need to do is add a negative rule to the national ad to stop it appearing in the area you're targeting with the local ads.
Just follow Google's instructions fromhere.
