Hi, once you registered as a subcontractor for CIS, do you have to register for self assessment too? I assume not, since the tax you owe is, as i understand it, deducted from the main contractor (ie the company who pays you).
As i understand it, if you are CIS registered you need to submit an annual self assessment tax return. If you fail to register for self assessment and fail to submit a tax return for several years in a row can you submit to HMRC a few different years tax returns at one time?

hi when filling in a P87 for (employee expenses) .... under the mileage part what if you drove your own van and took 2 other people too on the journey can you claim 45 pence for each of those passengers? OR can those passengers themselves claim anything?

Can anyone become an agent ie act on behalf of people when dealing with HMRC. Either people who are not able to fill in forms due to eg illiteracy etc or people who are able to fill in the forms but would just rather get someone else to do it for them
