I was just reading your appeal for unusual businesses. We might be considered shoestring Spielbergs.
Last year we released our first retail DVD 'The Angel and Daniel Johnston - Live at the Union Chapel'. The production was funded with money we had earned stacking shelves in supermarkets. The title got acclaimed reviews in the music press, trumping many of the major label releases, including a rare 5 star review from 'Record Collector'.
We edited much of the film in a small cabin in my parent's gardens, and in the living room of the Director's house, which was actually a construction site in the course refurbishment. We edited in hard hats on a couple of occasions. Most of our equipment was recycled, including three computers and a monitor we saved from various skips and then converted into a render network.
We are currently developing a package of options for budget corporate video.
