True and those that do didn't come down with the last rain fall when they make procurement decisions. No offence to the OP but there are loads of good testers out there who A: Have an accredited qualification B: Operate within the professional code operated by their qualification C: Don't have...

    Furlough, latest guidance

This. Given HMRC's track record-- I can quite easily foresee a situation where some third party comes in at a later date and offers to "verify" past claims for a 10% cut of HMRC's recouped funds. As the sole Director of a Ltd - I'm looking at the paltry sum equalling 80% of PAYE and wondering...

    What can furloughed directors do?

Yeah it would be terrible if Directors who can make it through a general shutdown claimed furlough then - shock horror- inadvertently did work that lead to revenue./their company making out the other side. The last thing we need is tax revenue whilst these greedy so and so's are claiming a...

    What can furloughed directors do?

We submitted RTI via HMRC's PAYE tool for March exactly the same as normal. It included no updates, additional questions or notices so presuming we will have to declare furloughed employees on the magical mystical portal on the 20th. HMRC will use the "registered before the 28th on RTI" as the...

....sold to Softbank....a Japanese Company ...in 2016. Once you scratch the surface of many well known "UK companies" outside of finance/lending - you find foreign ownership.

Yes- it is a preferential tax position. Most people will deal with it when they realise the govt makes 20% VAT from lots of risky ideas turned into billable revenue by small companies....all without lifting a finger. VAT which goes into a pot the general populous are now accessing. No one is...

    - - Or ...instead of getting what sounds like Frank Spencer doing the interview- they could use someone who started a limited business with a view to sell/attract outside investment as a long term strategy.? They pay themselves a pittance whilst re-investing in the business but can demonstrate...

So accordingly.......Nothing to lose? MP's use this model. It'll always have a 'lil something. These are the people out clapping the NHS whilst voting to up their own pay and freezing nursing. If anything- it will probably get better....

^Agreed. But no one is going to shed a tear for company owners .... People might be receptive to the logical argument of parity with the self employed where taxable income can be demonstrated. HMRC could check their own records to calculate an average payment and no one loses out.

The point is the protection offered to the OMB Director seems broadly less fair than the protection offered to the Self Employed. 80% of PAYE for furloughed Directors who are still having to maintain a statutory presence in their company overlooks the fact they can demonstrate previous...

OMB Company directors need to band together to make their voices heard. It's pretty evident most people think OMB Directors dont deserve any assistance but I think there is a strong ethical case to include them in income protection schemes using the same rationale applied to the self employed...
