    No her pensions fully pay for her flat and meals where she is. It leaves nothing for such things as chiropody, hairdressing and dental, toiletries and treats, but she does have some savings and a bit more coming in (hence the question arising). Probably totaling about 50-60k.

    De-registering from VAT

    I have just successfully deregistered from VAT, but I have never hit the threshold and so it probably went through easily. Also did not have much stock. I registered far to soon based on what turned out to be bum advice by an accountant!

    Don't worry the turn over is fact and well recorded : ) Thanks for your reply. I will go ahead now and de-register. If I turned over 70k in the next 3 months I would be very happy to be paying VAT anyway! However I am not projecting anything like that.

    PS I have been on the .gov site and also on business link which it refers to but cannot find these questions answered. Business link have an interactive question and answer tool which shows I can deregister but doesn't address what happens of I find i have to register again quite soon.

    Thanks everyone, and the person who pm'd me. I think it looks as though my current accountant is right and they were services and not goods. So I cannot go back more than 6 months.
