If you google the name of the company that has sent you the ticket you'll probably find lots of information from other people which will usually end with the advice 'ignore it'.
Some of these companies send more and more threatening letters for you to pay but actually they cant enforce payment...
Hi Jim,
I would:
1. Get some flyers printed, create an offer (maybe free PC review worth £30 or something) and visit as many business centres as
possible leaving them in the pigeonholes of all the businesses in there. Do it every month for 3 months and measure calls.
2. Get a free £50/£70...
I think the ability to communicate regularly to customers is very powerful. You can build a relationship with them over time and it makes the whole sales process smoother.
I use it for one of my businesses and when a new product is released I can instantly hit thousands of people all in one day...
Vin,
I like your no nonsense attitude!
The problem with many "marketing consultants" is that there is a lot of BS and its difficult to pin down what they will actually do for their money. (I say many because I have started to work with a good one)
Whilst I dont necessarily agree that I expect...
Hey Allington,
You put up a post asking for feedback - as a potential customer I gave you my feedback. You can either take it on board, dismiss it or say I'm missing the point.
But unless you add value and the benefits to ME of what you're selling then to keep repeating you're an all round...
Is there such a niche as an all rounder?
Why not put yourself in your potential customers shoes. For example me.
I run a couple of businesses, one being a financial services business. If I looked around for a marketing service for this company I would choose one that specialises in financial...
I completely agree that it is impossible for someone in marketing to give guarantee of results from their services (for Scotts reasons above for a start)
However what I would insist on is a clear measurement of results.
To be able to test what has been done and its effectiveness.
My own...
mobyme,
When you say POR I assume you mean pay on return.
How do they define 'return'. Is it:
1. actual sales/profit/number of leads
2. a specified position on google for specified keywords
If its 1 then it would be very difficult measure anyway as you are esssentially becoming a partner of...
Hi Jane,
You'll need to speak to a specialist property tax accountant for this as most high street accountants don't do it.
However I would advise whoever you do choose can work alongside your current accountant - I havent heard anything bad about Portal Tax claim so probably a good place to...
Earl,
But are you saying that if I had paid for someone to do the SEO I wouldnt have been able to get from 200 to 10k?
If the potential traffic is there then wouldnt others be able to get it?
10,000 visitors a day is an awful lot of traffic - is that in the UK?
If thats the case what have...
SEO is only one tool in the box (so to speak) why would you give any equity share for that?
I have used elance a number of times and as long as the milestones are defined it has worked fine (sometimes it hasnt worked but then money hasnt changed hands)
esk247 I have business plans and...
This wont be popular with the SEo guys on here but...
I've used a number of SEO companies from elance.com which is paid upon results and held in an Escrow account - the funds are then released once agreed milestones are met.
I wouldnt consider paying upfront for SEO or offer an equity stake...
conversion rate can obviously differ depending on the advisers experience/sales skills/hunger etc.
if you are starting out dont be tempted to take all fees upfront as clawbacks can be painful for cashflow. for the bigger cases e.g. premiums of £80 and over get it on the drip and after a period...
Hi Ian,
Thanks for your response. I appreciate your comments - one of my main aims to work with a marketing company is I can outsource the work and also get the benefit of their expertise. If I did it all myself then it would take a lot longer.
Licensed to trade:
Perhaps this is the issue. I...
