I sell food hampers too, and I use RM. Easy, no strings attached, and reliable. I agree that RM will always be v competitive for anything less than 2kg
It is all about local marketing, so try leaflet and ads in your local newspaper. I would consider hiring a professional marketer for your leaflets, as you will need to look professional and stimulate peoples appetites (or your leaflets will go straight to the bin).
Thanks webgeek, it is a very good idea.
PRMum, I am not a big fan of PR for food. Most of the journalists and bloggers are happy to get freebies, and then forget about it easily. I sent nice chocolate boxes to three journalists, none of them answered (but I am sure they loved the chocolates...)...
Hi there, we sell a wide range of gourmet food (from luxury flavoured risottos to truffles and olive oils). You can access my website clicking at my name
Hi all,
My new gourmet website went live three weeks ago. Most of the products are very popular among my friends (and are truly delicious), but I now need the spread the word about my company.
I tried (and failed) so far with:
- leaflets (2,000 in posh London areas) --> no improvement in...
I am in the fine food business, and I only import from the EU. There are absolutely no issues but for labeling.
In any case, please contact your local health manager. He/She will be very helpful.
Forget the forums, this is probably the worse free advertising you can get. You have a lose-lose situation, i.e. either you do not spend time on the forums and ppl will quickly realize you just spam their forums (no sale, bad publicity), or you spend a lot of time, get the respect of many in the...
Hi all,
I just opened my new website dedicated to fine food (called Excellent Foods). I spent the last three months on it and now it is live, i find it quite stressful:|
Please do not hesitate to have a look, any feedback is welcome.
Cheers.
Honey is not an easy market, I sell some premium honeys on my website (honeys that you can find in 5* hotels in the UK), and still find it hard.
1kg is way too big, and I would be very careful with the locations.
In any case, I wish you the best of luck
I would say yes. I just set-up my new website in the gourmet food (ExcellentFoods) and after just two days, I feel that the fat fees I paid to an art designer actually pays-off. If you are in the high end of the market, you need to differenciate yourselves
I have just set-up a fine food online business (Excellentfoods) - while I see the advantages (small costs, easy accessibility, full flexibility,...), my next step will be to open a store in London to sell our products. Indeed, I am left frustrated that nobody can sees, smells or assesses my...
Importing goods from the EU is very simple: no borders, no taxes (not even VAT to claim back). Just make sure your supplier follows the EU directives and you will be fine; the main issue might be the labeling (if not in English).
