Depending on your needs there are some great ARM devices out there nowadays that will suit many purposes, maybe not as the main workhorse PC. Have a look at the Odroid U3 only $59 plus the postage.
With regard to these ideas that you may need more than three lines etc, where do you think the phone comes into play? I'm not sure if I am misunderstanding or some people have a misunderstanding of VOIP and the way it works. A phone is a phone, not a PBX.
Say your company has a need for 100...
Russ, if you think people shouldn't be paying more than 0.7 for landline then just out of curiosity, what do you think about mobile? You're bang on the money with the price of landline, in fact it varies, I have had it as low as 0.25 at one point.
Providers on here are selling mobile at 7-10p...
Russ, at that sort of price its probably being used as a loss leader for other products. I do know exactly where you are coming from though and we are trying to plan for the day when the rate hits zero :)

What hope have people got when people make statements like this.
The server is a Hewlett Packard. Since when did HP become junk?
Seems to me that most people in this thread offering advice also want to sell the OP something too. The OP may well be advised to visit forums like Web Hosting...
Do not rule out hosting outside of the UK. I tend to find that in the UK bandwidth and power cost far more than in many other parts of the EU.
You should easily get response times of 40ms or less.
I have no horse in this race but I do have a rack in a Manchester data center and I also use...
