    WordPress all the way. Agree on the bloatware bit, if you're looking for something very specific you are best off getting a bespoke plugin / theme built. More often than not plugins will contain much more than needed, wasting cycles and impacting on response times etc.

    Sounds like a good idea to me, in short setting global pricing based on a variable really. If it's not been done I might have a look at it, we've got some customers using WooCommerce and this could be a useful addition!

    Would probably be interesting to try and tap into the schools market... I know the academy I attended had a couple of regular ones in op. for a while. Think the snacks were replaced with (healthy) soft drinks after a while though!

    If the original domain name was registered with NOMINET you can still likely get that back - could be useful if this already had a search presence / domain authority. Have a quick google for "NOMINET dispute" and it should be result #1 Best of luck!
