Hi All,

2 weeks & counting before I start my PC repair/service business - sole trader.

Have designed a double sided business card which looks good - thanks to Goodprint. This has contact info on the front with a list of services on the back.

I am going to deliver some of these locally but would like to know if any of you have good experience with a reasonably priced/reliable distribution service or have any other tips on getting these delivered probably 1-2k initially? Romford/Upminster/Hornchurch area.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Regards,

Andrew

If it is only around 1-2k then maybe you should consider doing it yourself. You know who is getting your card and you know all of them have been delivered. Once you get the ball rolling then look for a delivery service as 1,000 is not many at all and you will need to be looking at higher figures.

B2B you can put the card in their hand and introduce yourself which I would have thought would help you increase your conversion rate.

Wish I had your problem Comspec! :D

I'm probably just finding my feet with regards to the best way to market the company. Have tried Google ads ppc etc.

I delivered 250 last postcards last Friday & received 2 calls - 1 resulting in business.

Mostly residential customers but I may start looking at commercial!

Regards,

Andrew

You could go to the town center climb to the top of a building and throw them off?

More seriously if you go to your local tesco/supermarket they often have business card distribution boards for local businesses. You can stick them up in news agents, cafes, libraries (postcards/giant business cards are good for this). Give a couple to your friends and family and ask them to hand out to anyone who might need your service.

If your distributing them yourselves you could try and target modern flats which have all the mail boxes next to each other in a grid. The apartments where I live you could post 300 cards and only walk about 50 metres.

Good luck!

If you are going to be delivering them through doors without actually speaking to people I would suggest using showcards or flyers as a business card coming through the door would look a bit weird to me. Firstly I would wonder why you didn't ring the doorbell and secondly I would wonder why you hadn't designed a showcard. This may just be me though, I'd be interested in what others think.

I'm with Sara about the business card and jakelakey's comment shows he has done this himself. I have fallen into the trap of wandering around large posh housing estates only to realise I'd walked miles and posted relatively few flyers. If you are new why not be bold and ring on the door bell it will certainly focus you on fine tuning your 30 second pitch
best of luck

Quite often business does come from the strangest of places! I gave a business card to a girl I was chatting to in a bar one evening (not work related!), she gave it to her Dad who was in my line of work and got in contact with me for work!

When you do re order your business cards, dont forget our discount code for ukbf has now changed to UKBF55 (more discount for you guys!). Check my thread in offers category for more.
