Possibly a reasonable question from a new student wound up in the world of degrees and detached from real life for a few years. I have got two offspring at the moment at uni, one doing Nucleur Physics and the other an ology of some sort (sorry can't think how to spell it.

Guys and gals if you carry on with this thread it will end in tears. I have seen it happen on other forums and eventually someone has to go and they do either by choice or by other means.

What sets this forum apart from many others is the scarcity of insults, *****y comments, etc. There will always be a few, and different people will percieve them differently (one man's meat is another man's poison and all that). For example I find the use by one prominent poster of the words 'poofs' and 'girls' as insulting remarks extremely offensive, although others may think this acceptable.

I do think it's right however, that when moderators feel things are deteriorating, that they step in and take action to try and correct it. After all they are only trying to keep this forum the largely civilised place that it is.
