I assume it was a Limited Company? Were you a director of this company?

You must know how many jobs you finished and have a reasonable idea of the total income, you probably took a salary and some other expenses so you can possibly work out what may be left in the account, depending on what that may be, if anything, is it worth your while paying for a court order.

Ask the company accountant to show you the books?

Yes ltd company and I was a director 50%
I'm not sure what you mean by 50% director.

Do you mean there are two directors and you are one of them?

Or are you perhaps referring to your position as a shareholder, which is completely different to your directorship?

If you are a director you can ask the bank for access to the company's banking.

I use Starling Bank for our 2-shareholder, 2-director ltd company account, I assume that Tide operates in a similar way. On setting up I had to give full details of both shareholders/directors. Then I personally had to set up to use the debit card and access the account online. The other director/shareholder had to do the same.

Presumably your ex friend set up his access to the account but 'forgot' to get you to do the same. I suggest first check with Tide whether your name appears anywhere on the account details.

Tide isn't a 'normal bank account' and don't work by the same rules. They're more of a tech company and their tech only allows one person to be able to access the service.

Potentially academic now then. What did you want to see the accounts for?

I use these challenger banks for an add on bank for features. I use revolut to send international payments to suppliers in china at spot rates +£5.

I use mettle for the free access to freeagent.

I just set up a tide to get a switching bonus.

But I always have my main bank as a high street bank. I want someone with a high street presence and the ability to be pay in cash if I ever need it. I dont know how someone would just have a monzo and that it, confident that they will never need to pay cash in.

Some people just rely entirely on apple pay. So many people dont carry card or cash just have everything on a phone. I've seen too many cases of issues - some many times the contactless just doesnt work on the phone and the user has to mess about in the apps to get it to work. One time I saw a petrol forecourt with contactless that went down. A lady was trying to get her contactless to work at a petrol station - if it doesnt work she's stranded.
