I don't think my post is indicative of someone worrying about hurting someone's feelings. Nor, for example is the behaviour of the group of hand-wringing lefty wokey worriers known as 'Just Stup Oil'.

Brexit-backing Next boss says UK needs more overseas workers​

Ignore the headline - his idea is that companies should be free to bring in workers if they pay the govt a 10% of salary tax for those workers.

I can't see that working as it will just mean if you can find overseas workers who will work for 10% less than a UK based one they are still cheaper - if the issue is we have low end dweebs who cant get a uk job at present and don't get enough benefits to survive then they still wont be able to in that situation and we will still have a bunch of resentful people saying "they stole my job"

We need to think of a better solution that works for all

I don't think he actually believes that's a long-term solution - he's just trying to entice the government by dangling the carrot of more tax revenue in front of them.

Just Stop Oil protestors are absolutely right.

We must immediately stop oil and gas extraction from the North Sea. It makes far more sense for to buy gas from dangerous authoritarian regimes, have it compressed into a liquid and shipped a third of the way round the world. That's wonderful for the environment.

But I don't think that's what they are saying. They are saying stop oil extraction immediately. They are saying stop investing and licensing new fields. Invest it in renewable while weaning ourselves of fossil fuels.
