Are the ads that appear on this site real? Here’s the latest one:

Are you satisfied with Boris Johnson's decision to face the current situation?

I don't care...

What does it even mean? Who decides which ads are good or bad?

Not sure on the content as mine seem too .... surprise surprise follow anything I happen to be looking at else where. So I assume logarithms are working overtime somewhere ........ the other day I could not get away from adverts selling houseboats.

I do find the pop out ads that come out the right hand of the screen on this forum really annoying they cover up what you are trying to read. Is there anyway of stopping these?

I don’t suppose that’s what the forum gods would want!
Perfect world scenario is to not have the ads appear like this on the forum; but if I fess up my CTO has now banned me from touching any of the code on this forum as I've broken them twice since taking them over. So no more tinkering from me, but I think the slider in from the right has now gone (I don't see it).
We do need to have some for a little while as it pays for these forums, but in the future there will be a redesign which will not have all the pop-over stuff and these forums will have transactional services on offer to pay their bills rather than ad revenue. Still finding our feet with them for now though, a lot has changed since I sold them originally back in 2007.

This is none of my business, of course, but did you buy a house boat?

That's fair enough but I agree that the ad at the page bottom is a recent innovation that's really irritating. It's quite possible to get rid of it and leave the others.

I saw two ads layered on top of each other at the bottom of the page today - which seems to defeat the point of showing one of them!
I've just seen that too, I've taken a screenshot and forwarded onto the company that runs these ads to sort it owt.

No but my brother in law is currently living on one and what with this conversation it got me looking at adverts. I prefer my boats to be a little bit faster ......... hence the name

I did, for a short while, own a cabin cruiser. I still don't think it would have been quick enough to warrant your chosen name! It could manage 27 knots on a calm sea!

Yes that is daft, although not the words I used when I opened up that image.
I cannot replicate that on my phone and I only see one tiny ad at the bottom on my iPhone. I'm happy if you want to DM me your phone model and browser your using so I can take those details and pass it to the ad management co to deal with.

    Hi.
That was on a Huawei P20 pro running Android version 10. Browser is Chrome.
It also often shows the 'accept cookie' page every single time a page loads, which is quite annoying.
