Why would I need Cardinal Commerce

hi

I have a client who is using Cardinal Commerce for their PayPal payments system.

I can't get an answer as to why they need it? A few other clients have PayPal and do not have Cardinal Commerce! Why should they need it?

Cardinal provide a payment facility that you can take card and paypal through. So if your client is taking payments via card too, then this would be one portal that does it all, rather than having different payment systems for paypal and then another for cards. We use Braintree, which I understand is similar to Cardinal and provides a much better portal than paypal alone.

Many thanks for that.

They were told/they misunderstood what they were told/recommended by PayPal, that they needed this system for '3D secure'!! Not for payment specifically.

And if what you are saying is correct, then they don't need it!! As PayPal takes card payments along with 'PayPal Account' payments!

It does, but we find a lot of customers don't want to use Paypal for a card payments, plus their fees are high. Plus you might not be able to do reoccurring card payment with paypal if your client needs that? I don't know the ins and outs as we've never used Cardinal, but it does sound like your client were sold the most lucrative (to paypal) solution by PayPal.

Many thanks for that, Cardinal Commerce is really hard to get hold off, Facebook post and messaging, and email.

And I think you are right, they were sold something that makes money. It is like 'PayPal Express' with its low fees, so the website owners think they are saving a fortune, then complain that no customers are going through the checkout. Because you don't have to with PayPal Express, and so jump back on 'PayPal Pro' pay the higher fees but get the customer data.

Thanks for everything I am going to go back to them and tell them to get rid of Cardinal Commerce, as most of their customers are using PayPal anyway.
