Bit of a basic question, very much overthinking.
I'm in the process of compiling a database of all of my products, one of the ranges of products has many different variations and I'm trying to figure if I should have detailed but potentially complicated SKU or Simple but less detailed.
For example the name of the product is.... 900mm x 50mm 1mm x 50m throughout the range each of those measurements could be different e.g. 1200mm x 13mm 1.2mm x 25m
Detailed SKU - 90050150 and 1200131225
Simple SKU - WN1 and WN2
I'm just trying to think when either of these might be more useful than the other. The majority of my sales will be online and all the products will be labelled with barcodes, my inventory/order management software will store item warehouse location - so remember SKU's isn't exactly important as printed pick lists will tell you exactly where things are, and barcodes will reduce packing errors.
Any thoughts on why a detailed SKU would be more important?
