Hi

Does anyone have any examples of paper style spread sheets for money in and money out that are typically used for a small vat register business that mainly deals in cash sales. Something that one could complete them self and send it off to a chartered accountant annually to be finalized

You know The kind of template I had in mind was an expenses spred sheet page, where it would list in columns thing like cleaning, fixtures and fittings, travel ect. The page where you would record all the recites you had collected

Thanks

Cool Cloud Bookkeeping

Hi @Biggins and Beggel If you are VAT registered then you need to use a software to submit your returns.

It seems like you will be duplicating your efforts if you do the workings on excel and then need to upload the same workings each quarter to submit the VAT returns.

Take a look at Xero - super easy to use there is no download (all cloud based) and there is a free 30 day trial so you can test it out to see if you like it.

I do Xero training sessions for free right now due to the current climate so if you do decide to give it a go and want some pointers, just let me know.

B&B a few years ago I would have said something like VT cashbook would have been ideal, but with Making Tax Digital as you are VAT registered I really would look at a system which deals with VAT quickly and easily. If you want to keep costs down Accounts Portal is a good option. You may find your accountant can get a discount on the subscription. Its one we use and we can give clients a discount.

Just a thought do you possibly bank with Natwest or RBS? If you do FreeAgent is free for you.

can still use spreadsheets & bridging software to file MTD VAT return.

The digital link roll out phase 2 of MTD VAT has been postponed for another year - until 6 April 2021.

Agreed.

But if starting from scratch now you might as well implement a system that will last. Will save work further down the line and get you into good working practices.

    I still give Scalloway 10/10.

A currency can be changed easily and a new column added for VAT, which will also need to be adjusted for changes in VAT rate from time to time and to take into account different VAT sales.

I presume a template which is in USD and takes into account USA VAT calculations, can be converted in much the same way.

READ IT AGAIN! The Template is in Indian Rupees - However, this can be changed as you rightly suggest. But, how did we get from Rupees (Original Format of the Template) to US Dollars? (Your Comment) THIS IS A UK BUSINESS FORUM! Additionally, the mere concept of VAT in the Former United States is a complete mystery to them!

    You earlier post . . . . .
And? - I qualified that in previous posts! HOWEVER 'Beginner Bookkeeping' has various download options for VAT and Non-VAT (FUSA Standard), together with FUSA Papers Sizes and DIN A Sizes! The OP cited an HTML file - He had NOT downloaded the Excel File! AND still, how did we get from Indian Rupees to US Dollars?

Your post referred to an American website (USD).

Scalloway's post referred to an Indian website (Rupees).

Both can easily be changed to the required currency.

You sound angry and flustered over a simple comment.

Perhaps go for a walk and get some fresh air, if there is fresh air where you are. I remember you posting on a different thread that many thousands die daily from polluted air in Phillipines . . . . . .

I have far better things to do! I would have thought that you would too! Remember that this is a UK BUSINESS FORUM! (Philippines is the correct spelling BTW)

The FUSA site is quite good in terms of Basic Bookkeeping Concepts (Excellent interpretation of 'Double Entry,' also) There is far more information there than 'Basic Templates.' That is where I was directing the OP However, his lack of IT Knowledge gave rise to problems! YOU cannot solve that and neither can I. Neither do I want to argue about it! - LET US END THAT HERE!

Although in the Former United States, the Website Owner is adept at responding to specific requests and has adapted the site over time. She, at least has a knowledge of VAT and other Non-FUSA Accounting Concepts. I have dealt with her for a number of years, as I fall outside the usual ambit of 'Standard Accounts' where Proprietary Software cannot help. Again WE SHALL END THAT THERE!
