Using Sage 50 - Move to Xero? Can it be a CRM.

We have used Sage for donkeys years.

It installed on one of the computers. Which is a pain, as I look after technical stuff but not always in the office. So it's a bit like MS Outlook - if it breaks it's hard to fix remotely. That's why we use gmail now! Sorry, getting side tracked.

Is there an online/cloud based version of Sage now? Like Xero/Quickbooks. That is also priced similarly. We had to cough up £500 to upgrade our Sage version for a year's support.

I want to integrate our accounts package with magento better. Well we don't integrate it with Sage at all, we do it all manually. Which is best with magento? I'm guessing not Sage.

Hope that makes sense! Any help/guidance is much appreciated.

PS - And anyone that can move us from Sage to Xero please let me know!

A number of companies offer Magento to Xero integration, two examples below:

As for an online version of Sage, there is SageOne but it doesn't have all the features of Sage 50.

I had Sage One, it came free with my business bank account and was fine for a while but it is very basic and rectifying any issues is almost impossible.

I moved to Xero and the functionality is much better, far more user friendly and more intuitive. My bookkeeper did the migration for me, might be worth you speaking to your accountant / bookkeepers to see if they can do it?

Sorry if I'm slightly hijacking the thread here but didn't want to make a duplicate for a simple question - if you use Xero and pay your £22 a month, then decide to cancel it one day, what happens to all the data you have stored on it? Can you download a local copy of your accounts from their service at any time? I'm guessing yes (and assuming this would actually come under GDPR data portability anyway)? In what format are they downloaded and do you get a copy of the reports it generates or just the raw data?

That's the only concern I have over this fancy cloud stuff, it all looks cool and convenient but ultimately your accounts are on someone else's server.

I would download Ledger, Debtor and Creditor reports as PDF files for later reference.
