Hi there, i started a business last year as a sole trader, i was not VAT registered.

I have just moved from being a sole trader to a limited company and i am now looking to register for VAT. Reading on the .gov website it says that i can reclaim VAT for up to 4 years previous as long as i still have receipts ect. Will this still be applicable to me being that i was a sole trader at the time?

Thanks in advance, Dean

unless .......... the sole trader incurs expenditure on behalf of the limited company.
Meaning?

For a simple example, i purchased shelving for the business as a sole trader last year, could that be included now that it is a limited company?

Im imagining not, but hey, you've gotta get every penny where you can!
