Just on this point it's good to be wary with sites like these as your posts could end up anywhere. A client of mine used one of these and his content about power tools ended up on a porn site and he had to pay the porn site to get it removed.

PR sites like these can result in bad back links which can result in a penalty from Google so be careful!

Exactly, these are nothing more than ordinary article directories. Excellent for getting a link, but about the ending - most sites, even such running copyright protection, cannot prevent your content from being stolen. This last year there is a competitor of mine that does negative SEO to my website. My articles were copied, etc. but there was no negative effect at all.
