Website name conflicts

Hi, I have a store it has a wide range of items.
We have an art gallery side - quite a lot of limited edition prints, canvas, sculptures and we also make custom frames for pictures.

Also we have a home and gifts section - scented candles, 'arty' clocks, jewelry, handmade style greeting cards and some nice design scarves too.

I have made a website using a wordpress theme - installed it locally on my PC.

I'm not sure what domain name to give it though.
I was thinking (storename)ArtGallery.com

What do you think? Is this appropriate considering I have other items for sale too?

Since we have a large range of greeting cards I was thinking of making a dedicated website for that.

Thanks, looking forward to your replies.

To me gallery sounds a bit too much like somewhere I would visit but not buy from.

I assume just your storename.co.uk or storename.com is taken?

Yeah the store name is taken
I want the domain name to relate to the website,
We have quite a range of art available - artisits that include Rolf Harris, Doug Hyde which are for sale for around 300-800 pounds we are a gallery too.
Also we have 'lower end' art - prints that are for sale 40/50 pounds.

Just not sure about the name and the conflict with the other items we sell.

Thanks for your quick reply :)

It may help slightly, but I think that effect has been decreased slight by Google and you should be able to overcome it by optimising the pages that are targeting the gallery.

They other option would be to register both and do some landing pages on the Art Galery domain perhaps.

What'd you mean by optimising the pages that are targeted to the gallery? - I'm new to this world ha.

Yeah making 2 website's is a good idea, the only thing is about the stock inventory - for most higher end art we only have 1 piece in stock so there would have to be a sync program available that automatically changes the stock levels.

I am using WordPress btw to make my website - found a good theme, having problems with the menu atm if you have any Wordpress knowledge :)

Basically just by having the gallery pages with lots of content to do with the gallery on those pages. Things like the title, h1 tags etc.

As for the menu is, no problem I'd be happy to have a look. You mention you have installed it on your local PC, I assume you haven't made this publically accessible?

I would say that the menu is picking up some of the wrong CSS.

It's hard to give anymore advice without seeing the source to see where it is pulling it from.

Are you planning on setting up the hosting soon? (so I could have a look)

ah right okay. I'm not really planning on hosting it soon to be honest. Wanted to get it all done then host it. I will see if I can fix it by the end of today, if not I'll try and host it asap then - probs by tomorrow

Well, its the same as permanent hosting but I could just set you up for free to host it while you developed and sorted the menu etc.

You may be able to host it on Wordpress.com, subject to a few restrictions they have like javascript etc. They also charge about $13 to allow you to point a domain towards them. So usually works out better to get UK host will a basic hosting package for less than £50 a year.

How can we set it up for free to host?

Was just looking at free hosting sites,

biz.nf website seems good to host on for free.

I'm using MwSQL atm for the local host

If your looking to host it for free permanently you will usually end up with zero support, slow servers, downtime and possibly adverts on your site. Afterall hosting itself isn't free, but decent paid for hosting doesnt cost a fortune.

I'm just looking at a free host untill the websites done and the menu problems are ironed out, I will get a proper host after that so it's faster etc

Basically if you could PM me your name and email address I will get a hosting account setup for you.

You will then be able to FTP upload the files and move the database from your local PC to our servers and you will be away. Obviously more than happy to help with that.
