Is that because you hate getting thrashed so very often?I celebrate by throwing darts at a dartboard with a phot of the English Rugby team on it.

I will be serious now and say the equiv for St Davids day in Wales is a big event, schools Tv just about everyone gets involved. Disneyland paris has a St Davids day weekend (5 busloads of kids form our local area went out this year).
Business wise, retail tends to do stuff, but most businesses don't.
Sometimes it can be quite difficult to advertise within specific 'holidays.' One of the main problems is that customers can become offended. Our client base is so diverse that we wouldn't send out a targeted offer - just one of those things.

Therein lies the problem, customers may get offended, but why?
Everyone has different levels as to what actually 'offends' them. Why? Sometimes people just kick up a fuss over anything and everything, sometimes to try and get a freebie or something out of it. Why? I couldn't tell you!
I thin k that if customers got offended, then that is their problem, not ours as a business; no-one gets offended for St. Davids Day. St. Patricks Day or St Andrews Day, so why St. Georges day - do we all have to hide our national affiliations in case we offend someone? Its madness - the world is mad!
After that rant, we don't really celebrate St. Georges day do we - why not? I think I will start a trend and declare this evening a celebration and have TWO glasses of wine with my meal instead of one.....really push the boat out.
Someone said that St. George was Turkish, moved to France and is cited as slaying a mythical beast in England.......mmmmmm? Thoughts?

here is the odd thing, the TRUE welsh flag is balck with a gold cross on it,
I think that is the cross of St David, rather than a national flag.
However, I do think that it would be appropriate for our national team to adopt it, and of course change the playing kit to black and amber
(Parochial Welsh rugby banter for the confused)
Simple solution, if they are offended then that is their problem.
There are other suppliers out there.
Travel the world and see how many big patronage days take place, do they worry about offending? Nope.
There philosophy is simple, if you don't like it, tough. It is who we are so live with it or move on...
Does anyone get considered when they switch on the lights at Melton Road for Eid? Nope.
What about the Carribean Carnival in August.
What about the removal of our Christmas plays from our Primary school? (all examples stated are in Leicester)???
Just three examples of celebrations (or the removal of) that could offend people easily.
But when it comes to an English celebration, we have to tip toe around all the pc brigade and bend over backwards to accommodate everyone else.
Wrong, wrong wrong.
This is not a statement about race, religion or any thing else that may be misinterpreted in today's England, it is a statement about being allowed to celebrate.
Rant over...B.O.T.![]()
I did, in the sunshine, quaffing some most excellent local ales, in good company, in the sunshineEveryone should celebrate St. Georges day!![]()

Every year I hear how the English are not able to celebrate St George's Day because it offends some people. Who are the people that are offended? Because I have never, ever heard of anyone being offended by it!
