Hi,

Has anyone ever used these people before?

They cold called, making out they were from BT and that they could reduce our phone bill. I pointed out we recently signed in to a 5 year contract with BT - but they said this wasn't a problem, and that they were a sub-set of BT Open Reach and could reduce our line costs and call charges.

We spend around £2,500 a quarter on phone lines, so any savings are always welcome. They said I wouldn't incur any cancellation charges from BT. If that's the case and we can save money, then great - but equally, I don't want to get caught out!

Has anyone used them before/got any info/experience they can share?

Many thanks

I had a call from them last week. They tried getting to me as they did you by lying about who they were calling from. At this point any caller has blown it. In my book you don't start a business relationship by lying.

Never came across them but there is no way you can move without incurring charges from BT. These charges would be substantial due to the length of the term.

When we are speaking to potential customers they have to be within 12 months of renewal or the fee to leave outweights the saving.

Not heard of them myself, but it's not uncommon in the telecoms market for companies to phone and make false promises.

The Openreach part is a load of rubbish, they will probably buy of BT OpenReach as we all do, but they certainly won't be part of them. Even if they were it wouldn't make any difference to your BT Retail contract.

We had a client once that had such a ridiculous rate with BT Retail that paying the cancellation fee still saved them significant amounts - so sometimes it is worth considering. But in my opinion certainly not with a company that cold calls and then lies....

Hi PBDesigns

Thanks for showing an interest in our product. Just to Clarify we are defiantly not part of BT. We are a competitor to BT Retail and do our best to offer the same product as them but much cheaper (pretty easy really).

Leo is correct, in effect we buy wholesale from Open Reach/BT Wholesale and Resell to the SME market.

If this was explained incorrectly I would love to investigate so that I could speak to the relevant manager in charge. If you would like me to do so, please PM the number which you were contacted on so that I can trace the call.

Regarding cancellation charges, the information you were given is potentially incorrect or has been misunderstood, either way it is our responsibility to explain the relationship effectively and just to be absolutely clear, any agreements we have with BT Wholesale are in no way relevant to your agreement with BT retail or any other reseller for that matter.

I agree with Thomas, if you are in a contract there is likely to be early termination charges.

In almost all cases we find that our service is more economical than staying in a contract with BT. This is for two reasons…
(1) our savings outweigh any cancelation charges
(2) in most cases we are able to make a contribution towards exit charges to ensure this.

In all cases before a transfer was to take place we would make sure that it was going to be economical for any potential customer.

Thanks for Reading. Feel free to PM for any further info.

I get this from mobile sellers, pretending to be from the network e.g. orange

if they can't be honest with me from the start, I am not going to trust them

I buy based on service, price comes into it but I would rather pay £10 more to get the right service.

I had several calls recently from a third party claiming to be T-Mobile. As I spoke to them it soon became apparent that they knew very little about my mobile contract and so I called T-Mobile to let them know. They were not too surprised I have to say.

I got my contract through Phones4U a few years ago, so think that's where they got my number from, but don't be suprised if the networks sell the data of expiring contracts.

The calls are all roughly similar and all know which network I am on (even a contract I took out online, on Orange's site) so something fishy going on.

Hi pbdesigns

I would be happy to check your bills for you if you wish.

Many of my customers are paying less than 2p to call mobiles, so if calling mobiles is a significant expense for your business, I may well be able to help.

Even though you are in a contract with BT, it will probably be for the LINES ONLY plus a comittment to a certain overall annual spend, typically £500, £5,000 or £30,000.

The annual spend typically includes lines and calls and broadband, so, say your BT Contract commits you to an annual overall spend of £5,000, but your line rentals and broadband are say £5,500 per year, then I could move your CALLS ONLY to another much cheaper provider whilst still honouring your BT Contract.

Please feel free to email me should you wish to discuss further.

Best Regards

I'll explain why I clicked 'Like' on the answer from the company being named in this thread....

I thought that was a pretty decent and clear answer, and it explained pretty much the services I'd have expected a company like theirs to provide.

I would probably have pretty much guessed at the start of the conversation that they were a reseller, as that's how most companies operate in their sector, it's just like the other utilities too really.

It does sound like you (OP) had a poor telephone sales rep, so maybe best for everyone if you gave the details requested, so they can be corrected.
