Hi everyone,

Just looking for some advice on the best platforms/websites for find good web developers/designers to outsource our work to?

We are a UK based online marketing company, and looking to outsource our work to anywhere in the world (UK included).

We have tried freelancer and odesk (odesk being the better) - Also any experience with these would be a great help.

Thanks in advance.

Rob

This site... it's free, you have a nice wide variety of UK businesses which aren't just going to under cut each other and it's good to use a local freelancer than some random guy in Phillipines etc.

There is a sub forum called tenders which you can use to get quotes.

To be honest, you can continue to go down the route you've gone...adding People Per Hour to that list, but I would look on Linkedin or maybe just do a Google search based on the specific skill sets you require.

There are loads of independents, one man bands etc looking for reliable work. It all depends on what you need doing and if you're willing to accommodate their rates of pay.

Thats the main difference between what you have been trying so far and talking direct, you might get a non uk designer for £8per hour on PPH or Elance, but a UK one will want at least twice that, sgnificantly more if you want something truly bespoke.

Hi Robert,

I actually work for a firm that supplies guys like you with top notch developers and designers. The company is called Genweb2 and we have guys in India and Bangladesh.

Drop me an email if you want to discuss getting some developers working for you (mikko.tamminen (at) genweb2 (dot) com.

I am really active on a professional forum called the "Web Designer Forum" - which is one of my preferred haunts as a developer myself.

Not allowed to post a link due to post count, but Google will find it.

Its predominantly UK freelancers and studios.

I'd avoid elance and odesk, not going to defame them but it's not hard to discover the horrors of what can happen on them due to silly undercutting.

Sitepoint is a good site to find professionals, another I use quite a bit myself. But the jobs board there is pretty low quality, I don't tend to even look at it anymore; just the forum; I know many who are the same. That might be a sign about what success you'll find on their marketplace.
