I'm in the process of setting up an ecommerce site (womens fitness clothes) and I would be very grateful for some advice on choosing an online payment processor. What sort of features should I be looking for? Can anyone recommend a provider that works well with a very small, low volume business?

Many thanks in advance

if you contact your bank merchant accounts usually come with these payment methods that are extremely secure and can be integrated into any website.

Whilst this is true, it is often cheaper to go via a payment gateway (such as ourselves) for the merchant account as the bank's own payment gateway will often work out more expensive overall.

This is true, there usually a monthly fee. I know HSBC do a very good one reasonably priced though. I've used it myself.

The monthly fee is usually a minimum, in case you do not meet that amount in % charges for the month. Most banks charge around £20 minimum monthly fee.

HSBC often recommend ourselves as an alternative to their own gateway as we work out cheaper for the merchant.

Hi Ash,

Quick word to the wise - all caps is a little off-putting when you are promoting a business...just doesn't look good ;)

Unless you are getting your own bespke cart built, your choice of payment processor will probably be determined by the shopping cart system you go for.

In terms of pricing, most of the ones targeting small businesses are much of a muchness, eg. SagePay, PayPoint, Secure Hosting etc.

Apologies for being a little late, but we also work with Prestashop and have an existing module. Unfortunately I can't post links yet , but you can see the module in our Help & Support section - Downloads - Shopping Cart on securetrading . com.

Also have a look at our blog . securetrading . com and see our article on why you should choose SecureTrading

Inzu.net lets combines content management and e-commerce in one system so is much easier to maintain your site with than other solutions and you don't need a merchant account.

Set up costs are very low so ideal for a small business.

Hi Sharon,

A bit late off the mark on this but we would be happy to speak to you to. We offer a basic £18 per month package with 350 free transactions and only 9.9p thereafter with no set up charges. Our key difference however is 100% of our profits go to charity. We also offer a personal account manger (in this instance, me!) and 24/7 support. If you would like further info please contact me directly.

If you still need to set up a merchant account we can also assist in this process.

Regards,

Marc.
