I'd hazard a guess that because .org.uk has been around the block it's maybe slightly better. More importantly, the content of the site and links in should probably dictate your weighting in Google.

I'd suggest you should only register a .org.uk if you have a non profit organisation and a .me.uk for a personal site.

Technically, you are not an organisation, so should not use a .org domain. Whilst there are benefits from geting links from established .orgs, you will not get a boost just from using a specific domain extension.

If it's a commercial site, try to use a commercial domain extension if you can (not always easy but...)

I think the selection should be upon the site that you are purchasing for. Otherwise, .org is a better choice. Because google identifies such domains as organisational sites and give more importance in crawling. So seo-wise, .org is a good choice.

That's rubbish. Google doesn't give any advantage to any TLD with the possible exceptions of *.edu and *.gov although even those are debated.

The main ways to get better results in Google is content, links and well formed HTML and CSS.

If possible I would suggest .com even though there has been research stating that .org is the best publicly available domain to have, .org really does not stick in your mind and .com is a much more common and rememberable domain.

Also, have a double domain such as .org.uk is a bad idea IMO, in the end everything comes down to brand identity, and a .org.uk or .me.uk is not going to improve that in any way.

Yes .com would be nice but find a decent name or keyword your be lucky .
.org.uk works well with anything in the uk and alot of uk companys have purchased these names . This works well with the smaller companys out there people want to have a uk domain if they are based in the uk . the .org.uk domain market is massive now its catching up with .co.uk's now .

Depends how much money you have to invest .org.uk is as good as a .co.uk these days .

Double domains are fine i dont agree with you.

My point regarding double domains is that the majority of your traffic is coming from Google, people are going to look at the title and maybe the description and then decide they want to go to that website. Unless your website has a logo that says the whole domain then people generally don't care what the domain name. So they finish browsing the site, a few days later they come back and want to go back to the website - they can remember the company name but not the actual domain name. They start typing in your company name and assume it is .com, .co.uk or .net. Yes they can go to Google and serach the company name - however I assume you are going to use a double domain because the domain you want is already taken for .com, .co.uk or .net - so therefore they will most probably come up before you on Google.

Its just a theory but that is my reasoning behind not using a double domain, I don't find them bad per say, I just believe is should really be a last resort behind .com, .net, .co.uk, .org. etc.

I have many double domains and i have no problems with traffic and saying that my high traffic sites are .org.uk's and rank top of google for all keywords that its related to . If i was registering the .co.uk i would buy the .org.uk for the reason they rank just as well as each other . Most companys in the uk will use a .co.uk and a .org.uk as we are in united kingdom yes large companys wont be using them but there are alot of smaller companys using them .

Then again try and search your name / company you want

most .co.uk .com .net .org.uk .me.uk are taken . My advise is .org.uk is a great site to build up to rank well .

either of the above above extensions is treated any better SEO wise by google?

No difference as far as the SE goes, but any potential visitors are more likely to click the .org.uk than the .me.uk - despite the ccTLD not being correctly policed in its usage, people do (correctly) associate .me.uk with personal/hobby sites.
