Hi I've just rejoined again as a full member. Why? Well because we are expanding our business and need to get much more into business networking, and we feel that UKBusinessForums is one of the best places to meet potential new customers and suppliers.

Our core business hasn't changed, we still offer high quality commercial software development and business system integration services, but our specialisation is still in business process workflow, data capture and document management systems.

What are looking for at the moment are the best b2b networking groups in the East Anglia area, so any recommendations are much appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks Adam and Martin,

No I won't be leaving again! We are on a mission now to really get our name out there as a high quality business that provides excellent solutions to businesses.

It is quite amazing with the internet being so vast, that there are only really a few quality places for businesses to interact. It's sometimes like wanting to watch TV with 1000 channels, and nothing good is on! I hope this time around, UKBusinessForums will help us, of course we have to engage with others, and that is the main reason why I am back :)

Hi, welcome back!!

I'm from Maldon, Essex

There are quite a few networking groups around the Essex area. There is the Federation of Small Businesses (they also offer free networking events and workshops etc), Essex Business Network, BNI... Can always do a search on google. Here is a good site: http://www.findnetworkingevents.com/in/essex/

Hope this helps.

Take care

Some people like 4networking some people hate it I would not suggest that it is worthwhile spending 2 hours of your day travelling to it though. There are loads of networking groups in Colchester without going to Ipswich.

Try The Crown at Ardleigh 4.30pm on 7th Jan for free networking where you will meet lots of locals who will be able to tell you about other opportunities.

Brilliant - thanks for that. Do you know who runs the one at The Crown, I'm busy on the 7th but could make another.

Hi,
I've been to 4Networking, i like it. I've also been to The Crown in Ardleigh and love it, being free of charge helps! Theres another free one at The Circle in town at 12.30, if you put it in google it comes up.
I like The business womens network by Mandie Holgate and theres a breakfast cafe at The Barn Brassiere at Great Tey.
Colchester connected is ok but is really busy with over 200 people attending!
Hope you have enough to try out now, anymore then just email me.
Kind regards

Marc,

I am based in Colchester.

I have been considering joining as a full member over the last week. I am just trying to work out if the paid version really gives extra benefits worth the £48 investment. I have read the membership page but it does not really make me want to leap at paid membership.

Any insight will be appreciated.

Hello to all,

Im new on the forum and local for this thread, although i notice thers no
posts since sept 11.

well ive been self employed for a couple of years doing property maintenance,
repairs and renovations. work for the most part has been sketchy and at
times non-existant.

So this year in 2012 with end of the world an all that, ive decided to try an expand and get enough work to keep me busy. But as im sure many here will know, thats eaiser said than done!

I have a diy website and has cost a staggering 4.99 for a year, an added my details to every freelisting i can, just sacked yell.com to save what
little i can afford for advertising to use elswhere. im currently using free
credit on google ads (came with website set up) so between free listings
and google ads im not hard to find if you do a name search, and a keyword
search will get there.

So far all of my net activites has brought about 4oo phone call's so all great! well, would be if it wasnt companies trying to sell advertising to me.
And for work leads its a BIG FAT ZERO!

Oh, and economists predicting another deep plunge int recission.

Well a rambling hello then i guess.

Oh, one real thing, if i make it all work, i would be looking for a small yard type place lockup, office type thing, skip space just basic for a micro
builder.

any comments?

cheers all.

Hi J.D.P,

I own the Highwoods.co.uk website - Highwoods probably has 2000+ families living in it. If you would like to write an article about your business, showing pictures of your work, testimonials etc. Then I will be happy to post it on the highwoods.co.uk website for free :)

I think it is important though to get a good couple hundred words, some photos, and references (i.e. Mr Smith from Highwoods said...) So if you do that then I'll post it on the site.

This offer goes to anyone who wants to advertise their business on my highwoods.co.uk website.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Marc.

Hi JDP,

Send me your email via private message and I will send you a copy of the newsletter I sent to my clients in January on ideas for boosting website visitors.

Are you checking your adwords account regularly to see when the free advertising runs out? The £50 or £75 can be used pretty quickly and before you know it you have a big bill for clicks.

Regards

Simon

J.D.P and Simon here is some more info if you would like to submit an article for the highwoods.co.uk website.

If you email your articles to [email protected] then I will add them to the website.

Ideally, the articles should include:

1) Information about your business, what you do, problems you solve, products and services you offer etc.
2) Customer References/Testimonials - it certainly helps if you have local references
3) Pictures/photos (ideal, but not mandatory)
4) Contact details - i.e. Web Address, Email, Phone etc.

The article should be a few hundred words at least.

Hope this helps,

ps. Simon, thanks for the link back as well, it all helps :)

This is just an observation, but one I hope that will make sense.

We are currently saving to have some work done on our house, and that means that we will be going out to local businesses to get some quotes for that work.

Now the interesting thing is, now we have had some form of communication I want to add you to our list of businesses that can give us a quote.

So my point is to get lots of work, you need to communicate with as many people in the Colchester area as possible and impress them with your portfolio of work and your prices!

Your website shows some of the work you have done, but doesn't have much of a personal feel to it. Your brand is you, so you need to make that shine. Then you stand much more chance of conversions once people find your website if they haven't previously had any communications.

Hope this isn't too obvious, and I hope you don't think I'm teaching you to suck eggs. I have some fab ideas how you can get lots more traffic to your website without it costing you anything (apart from your time) if you are interested - let me know.

The "Hosequip" company has actually been around colchester for 40+yrs, used to be be on Hythe Hill, I am sure many of the oldies will know of us.. Little bit downsized since the good old days but still here and still trying to provide the old fashioned service. Anything to do with Hoses, hydraulics, hygienic equipment parts and fittings we try our best, if its not available we build it! :)
