Colour Prints - Fast (laser)

Hi,

I have been asked to produce a match programme for 2 football clubs each week.

The print runs won't be high, maybe about 50 programmes per club at home games, and maybe more for bigger matches.

Can anyone suggest any good colour laser printers? or any other kind of colour print that prints really fast and is not mega mega bucks!

I am also looking for one that doesnt have print borders, if possible.

Thanks in advance

I use an Oki C5600 - It's great for this but you'll need to trim the paper if you don't want a blank margin. Easy enough to do with a paper slicer from Ryman's

I wouldn't fancy trimming 50 booklets down by hand :p
Invest in a good printer, booklet maker and a guillotine if you want good quality.

Alternatively, it could be cheaper/more time effective to outsource it.

Seriously... Don't bother doing it yourself. A printer will do it cheaper, quicker, and better. Unless you want to fork out over a grand, the laser printers won't even get remotely close to a digital press in terms of quality.

There is no such thing as a 'non margin' printer (Not laser anyway). You would print it, leave a bleed area, and cut it down to size.

I spoke to all the local printers and most of them can only do it on a thursday which isnt very good as it could be pouring on the saturday and the game be off. I usually print them off inkjet the now colour on the covers, then black and white laser in the inside.

Any suggestions?

Andy McCann of Cann Print in Kilmarnock is fairly inexpensive although not the fastest from experiences, if you do want to DIY the OKI printers suggested are very good but you'll get one on Ebay for under £100 second hand, I bought a C5200 for £55 delivered a few weeks back.

You would however IMHO be better using a digital printing company for a small run like this, far less hassle.
