Rubbish cleanliness costs effort that could be better used in other areas.

That we cannot function as a Country with some 5 inches of snow is a joke!!

Running out of grit, one of my local hopsital running of plaster for broken bones etc, coal shortage I heard today - for heavens sake - we have had no bin collection for 2 weeks, and yet the postie in her van has made it every day.

If local Councils, want the Country to function and people to get to work then get their act together and stop fanning around.

You could aruge how can we preper for snow when we get it so seldom, but we are the same whatever the condition, wet, heat, leaves on lines!

Did you see that report on some football ground last night.

One of the groundstaff remembered when it was last like this, then they cleared the ground with spades and people went to watch the match.

The comment was that health and safety would never allow that today.

That is why so many schools are closed, because they are afraid of staff or pupils slipping on the ice, and then suing!

So if people are not allowed to take their kids to school, how can Mums go to work anyway.

I say chill out, and what will be - will be!

The snow will soon all be gone, water pipes galore will burst, there will then be a water shortage.

Dont you just love this Country!:D

You could sum up all thats wrong with this country, including the shortage of grit, with two words:

'Crap infrastructure.'

from roads to rail, car parking to the tax system. nothing works as well as our eu nieghbours because everything is inadaquate and inefficient! And its a viscious cycle downwards.

What a shame we cannot make use of all that real 'crap' there is out their!

Then knowing this Country, they would 'mess' that up!

Our shop has been closed, although the shop next to us said we had a customer turn up yesterday and asked to look at the plants.... reply from that shop "if you want to look at frozen solid twigs peeping out of lots of snow, I'll happily let you in"
lossing sales is not an issue because no-one hardly buys plants in January and we rarely open anyway, but we are lossing stock that is a problem, even the most hardiest of plants will have to be reduced well below cost, or thrown away.

Oddly despite the relatively heavy snow here in peterborough our shop has been extremely busy today :|

I think some people are at the point now of getting bored hiding at home. sooner or later even the biggest wimp starts to run short of things and is forced to accept that their car is quite capable of a few inches of snow.
