Good Morning all,

Im interested in renting and Ice Cream cart/Coffee Cart.

I am a uni business graduate and starting my first venture.

I plan on attending busy events and have had discussions with the authorities in

Sheffield to setup around areas of the City Centre.

If there is anyone that could help me out on this id be very grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,

David Thompson

Don't know if you can rent them or not but i did look into buying one a few years back.

It was an Ice cream trike from these guys http://www.businessonbikes.co.uk/

Not sure if you can get a two in one though (coffee and ice cream) as i have never looked into it.

Have you found out what licence you need from the council? Is it a peddlars licence or street traders licence?

I know when i spoke to the local council about it they said i had to keep moving and not stay in one place.

The council also said i may face some trouble from the local coffee shop(they sold the same ice cream as i was proposing) and ice cream sellers in the area.

I chap did it recently in my town centre and to get round the issues he planted himself on the church grounds in the town centre. He then just gave the church a donation as a thank you.

Good luck with it though.

Oh one more thing. The offer price on the website link i gave you (£1995) has been the offer price for at least 2 years so i reckon you could knock them down a bit further to be honest. Maybe £1500?

I also looked into adjusting the bike so in winter you can sell roasted Chestnuts or baked spuds!

As regards to the Council they have said i would need a street trading licence for a cart not sure if i would for an a ice cream bike as a local ice cream supplier said he knew someone who used to sell in a busy part of Sheffield and the council just told him to move on so he sold round the corner. Made a killing so he says.

You have got me thinking about this again!!

I like the business on wheels bikes but i was always concerned it was a bit of a waste of money considering you could only use it for a few months of the year.

Now i am thinking about the coffee and an add on for roasting Chestnuts.

Simply remove the freezer and put on a chestnut roaster.

Can be used all year round if you could get it to sell coffee too.

Hey deetee i found these guys based in the UK.

Trikes are £599 including VAT. You just need to get the Chest freezer from Sainsburys or somewhere. The freezer is under £150.

They look really nice and to be honest they are a bargain in my opinion.

http://www.bespoketricycles.co.uk/

The freezer is here

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/4548432/art/norfrost/c6aew-b-chest-freezer-whi.html

And you may need a generator see here

So there you go pretty cheap and probably much better than renting.

I am sure you could get a coffee maker added on to a bespoke box that maybe a carpenter or handyman could build you.
