Argh - Self Assembly!

So... I decided to buy a new office chair "easy self assembly" it said on the website.

For over an hour and a half I've been trying to put it together, ended up ruining all the threads on the screws by putting it together wrong - so I thought if I twisted the arm were the screw was in it might "pop out" - Oh it popped out alright and snapped the metal of where it was connected to!

Chair = no good, ready for the bin men. Waste of money!

Why do they say things easy to assembly when they are not? I'm so annoyed!

Keith can you come and assemble the new one I'll be ordering? :p

Flat pack is easy, all you need is a BIG hammer and don't expect to use all the bits they give you. Left over odds and sods are good, means you've done it right.
;)

It's also often a question of interpreting the instructions, or "destructions" as my family have called them in the past!

Hubby and I love flat pack but our patience was tried recently when we were assembling a plastic shed we bought from Homebase. It took all day - literally - and hubby still had to spend more time on it :( using his own interpretation of the instructions, which were entirely diagramatic.

Carl, just do what my husband does. We bought new shelves over a week ago. There was no swearing, no missing parts and no stress.

So how did he manage that?

By leaving them in the box...

Or do what I do...leave them in the box and leave them for the wife! i think that's equality!
