What are we expecting from the Queens opening of parliament next week?

Reading some of the rumours and leaks I am expecting, and want, to see a continuation of progress on the Economic Crime Bill. As a company BDG has campaigned for the contents of this bill for a few years now so I'll be personally quite active on that subject.

The "Levelling Up" agenda is expected to still be there, and I have a personal interest in seeing what comes of changes to the national funding formula and SEND reforms in education. Several consultations are closed on that subject so I expect to hear something mentioned around these.

I have rather low expectations, to be fair!

Maybe some information on how the handover of Northern Ireland will be handled?

Further tax on the lower paid? Maybe a significant reduction in financial assistance for vulnerable people?>

Maybe a pledge to stop royals & their hangers-on needlessly flying around in private jets and helicopters - or at least an explanation of why this is ‘good’ pollution?

After the complete failure to treat the manifesto of the last election as anything more than an advertising flyer, I don't expect this Queens speech to offer anymore of a pointer towards what will actually take place so am ignoring it.

I wasn't disappointed at all. I wasn't expecting much and I didn't get much.

All in all, it was very weak IMO. I think we are at the stage of the current term where the government treads water and saves any big policy decisions for the next election year.
