just thought i would mention something to members i have found extremely valuable.

I have just changed over my web browser from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox. This was always something i was reluctant to do as i do most of my work via the internet i need to be using the same software as my clients in order to give the right advice on any browser related issues.

I have to say though i would definately suggest the change - wish i had done it years ago!!!

It runs and loads far faster, no pop ups whatsover - even the ones Norton and Adaware miss, looks and feels far crisper,

in fact i have been using it for three weeks now and cant find anything at all to complain about!!

if you havent changed already i really suggest taking a look!!

:D

The only thing that I find is some dynamic javascript code for drop down menus that I had written works fine in IE but not in Mozilla which is annoying as it throughout my new site.

But apart from that I agree with you on everything else.

That'll be javascript written only for MSIE, it's not hard to write for any browser (drop me a line and I might be able to fix it for you). Brothercake has a drop-down menu which is even better than most - fully accessible (fully compliany with W3C WAI Level AAA; therefore the UK's Disability Discrimination Act too).

Loving FF, couldn't browse with anything else now.

its still all to play for!!! Other browsers have the edge according to the poll but there is not alot in it.

as long as Microsoft come out the loser in the poll then i will be happy.

Come on IE haters cast your vote NOW!!

Although I have promoted FF on here before, I also still use Opera a lot and there are some things I prefer it for not least the way it resizes pages.

I avoid IE as much as possible, There is an add on for FF that allows you to open a link in IE if you have problems with it in FF. Fortunately this is becoming more rare.

I have been perhaps one of the first users of the Internet back in 1989. People had never heard about it at the time. It was the graphic-less web and the unique Lynx browser.

I still use it sometimes to remind me the old good times of the non-commercialised web. However I use Opera and have been using it since version 3.60 (8 beta is out now).

Opera is my favourite option for two main reasons. The one being this nice button which let's me disable image loading when I visit a page and the other being the Control+D function which pastes a url and loads it straight away. Since I need to be checking several urls per day, I find it excellent.

The drawback with opera is that it is not a good option with people with less experience with computers and the Internet in general. However I think it is the company which innovates more than any other.

I remember when I was telling about opera to a linux geek friend of mine, and him telling me that it is not as good as netscape (at the time). Well the nice multi tab feature of Firefox existed in opera many years before. I think Opera is the best browser if you want to have more than 10 windows open at the same time.

Check out the 8 version which once again innovates with speech recognition. It is a pitty that this browser is not getting the attention of the masses.
