Viewing UKBF in Firefox

It's driving me wild...

I can't get any UKBF pages to show in Firefox - I've uninstalled - re-installed - rebooted a zillion times - anyone got any ideas?

The rest of the web is ok...

Page is just blank - shows 'Done' in bottom left

I'm also using 1.5.0.1 with no problems whatsoever, too.

Have you tried uninstalling and then re-downloading Firefox?

When it comes to forums, Firefox can be a little unstable; but if you hold down the Ctr key, and press F5 it should fix it

I am using Firefox 1.5 also and no problems. I'm afraid its your end mate

Sorry Rob, just had a thought. I recently changed my firewall to ZoneAlarm and had problems with Firefox and if I remember right it was also saying 'done' at the bottom left of the browser but wasn't showing any page at all.

Don't know if that's any use... :roll:

I have an IE plugin for firefox - it works fine if I view as IE through Firefox - just not as firefox

Yes I know it's an issue my end

Previously there was a walnut skin and a googletoolbar but these are disabled as they are not compatible witrh the latest FF

I also use Zone Alarm. What are your settings for Firefox access in Zone Alarm?

Mine are set at SmartDefense - Auto, Trust Level III, Access Trusted and Internet and Server Trusted are all ticked.Server Internet is set to ? and Send mail is X.

Cheers Lynn - but I turned ZA off completly and restarted and it's still the same (showing blank page)

I'll try uninstalling again and removing all files and ff config and see.

u have the Windows XP firewall and ZoneAlarm running at the same time? If so, try disabling one of them in turn.

As well as starting in safe mode have you installed with the feedback agent switched off (it sends data back in the event of a crash which Zonealarm might be blocking)

No - I don't use the Window$ firewall.

Also - (I have hade different problems with Firefox in the past) un-install and make sure all the FF files are deleted by hand (backup the fav's) under your profile before a re-install.

All fixed!

1. Exported all bookmarks to desktop
2. renamed Bookmarks export
3. Uninstalled Firefox
4. Deleted all firefox files from Program files
5. Downloaded and re-installed Firefox
6. imported bookmarks

I have no idea what I did wrong in the first place and why it worked this time!!

I am now in the same boat. Firefox seemed to install an update behind the scenes, and I cannot get it to work. I followed the steps Rob recommended, but still no joy.

To be specific, I uninstalled Firefox. I then went to the Programs folder and deleted the folder there named Mozilla Firefox. Is there anything else I should delete? Right now, I'm back to using IE.

The update thing is relatively new - I think it came in with v1.5. But there is an option: Tools>Options>Advanced>Update which you could set so that it asks you before going ahead.

Wrong IMHO that it defaults to installing without prompting.

It's probably the 1.5.0.2 update that installed recently? It just became available in UK yesterday. Installed it here without problem, but I'm still using Win2K, so I'm not typical.

I've got the latest update, am in the UK and am on Windows XP. I have no problems with viewing UKBF at all.

Perhaps also worth mentioning that you can backup all your Firefox settings using MozBackup available here:-

If you do have to uninstall, or change computers, you can get back all your settings including usernames, paswords, forum logins, digital certificates etc, as well as bookmarks.

Not your end Rob, I can't view ANY forums with Firefox 1.5.01 including this one

On some of them, it shows my password on the member page!!!!

I have now reverted back to IE6 (will try IE7 soon).

I know Firefox has a lot of fans and good reviews but I have to say, I have tried 4 times since it's release and I am not impressed with it at all

Firefox has got to be a million times better than IE6, and five million times better than IE7.

If you want to experiment, why not try the alpha release of Bon Echo?

Big Firefox fan here, used it for ages. *But* I am having the same prob with 1.5.2 with these forums.

Back to IE6 for these forums for now as I haven't had the chance to fix yet.

IE7 is an awful rip of Firefox IHO and dreadfully slow in beta.

I'm on FF 1.5.0.3, with Zonealarm and it is all fine. On another thread someone was finding the loading was slow; I'm only on 1meg broadband and its fine for me, 2 second load max.
All in all I'm finding the new look works great.
