UKBF DNS not working again

There's still a problem with the DNS and the site isn't reachale by it's IP address, this has been the case all day.

If you can't reach the site via it's IP, it's not a DNS issue...

DNS - Domain Name Server

It translates domain names into IP addresses. Hence what Jeewhizz said above. If you can't reach the site with the IP, then it's not a DNS issue.

 

Why are you accessing the site via an IP? :|

Hi,

The site's IP (if you ping it) will be 194.131.210.133 - however we have a large server farm sharing load across a number of servers, so you might get an accel-error through sift.com by accessing the IP directly. If you use the domain name, it should be fine.

If using the domain name doesn't work, please do let me know as I'll need to look into this further.

Depends on the setup of the virtual host, you can set up a virtual host to be IP accessible if you have a ip address available for it.

That's not accurate

This domain is set up as VirtualHost in httpd.conf. If you have more than one domain sharing an IP you won't be able to access them with IPs alone, but if you assign one domain per IP then you can access them directly.

We might have found the cause (thanks creospace!). If you're using an Orange internet connection, many of their customers may be having problems reaching a number of sites - please see this thread on an Orange customer forum:
