Not convinced that's a good idea. Since membership is free, you'll get a whole slew of companies that will never contribute, but will become a member to be in the directory.

I don't think an off site directory would be a bad idea, probably best manually edited so that companies that want listings can be confirmed as regular contributors. I may consider doing that, bit it's a little pointless without a few lnks to it.

I tend to agree. The fifteen posting rule seems only to encourage pointless postings including greeting people in the introduction area that have been members longer than the OP posting the agreement.

If you were going to limit a listing based on contributions, I think it would have to be manually edited to use human judgement on whether someone is a spammer or not.

The forums are manually edited anyway aren't they? I've not noticed a huge amount of spam on these boards, I have to say. A directory would be really useful so in my opinion it's worth doing.

I think a restriction to users who have already posted a certain number of times is far less likely to 'encourage' spammers than a free-for-all.

Actually there IS a members directory - searchable by industry.

It's REALLY badly linked to (hard to find) and maybe theres a way we can link better to the search facility.

Each member can allocate themselves an industry sector (or two I think) in their user control panel

Heres the link

You can sort the search (options at bottom of the screen) by last visited or post count etc etc

Hope this helps,

Rob

You don't notice a lot of spam because the mods are very swift at removing it. Those of us who are on here several times a day see quite a bit but it gets taken off very fast.
