Twitter Hour Tweet Up Sale?

Hi,

I run a regional (UK county focussed) 'Twitter Hour' with an associated hash tag that twitter users engage with on Wednesday evenings 7-8pm. It has about 1700 followers and gets regular engagement week-on-week. Users tweet the hash tag, and it is retweeted and favourited leading to engagement with our whole 'Hour' community. We're used by local businesses, events, charities, councils, schools etc.

We've yet to monetise it but there is a potential to run advertising packages, Twitter campaigns etc for other businesses. We're followed by loads of regional businesses so it's a great platform for any B2B or public sector marketing. We've also built a great looking website to go with the hour.

The trouble is, I just don't have the time to run it and grow it so I'd like to offload it. Do people think this is something I can sell? If so, I've not a clue on how to value it either?! My thoughts are that it could be really useful to a local business, marketing company, B2B service provider etc.

Also, if anyones interested, PM me for details!

Cheers

Hi Alex,

Sorry to rain on your parade but you may not sell a Twitter username to any 3rd party. It contravenes Twitters rule of service

It clearly states that any accounts engaging in the activities specified be subject to permanent suspension and lists this as one of them and I quote from reference above:

"Selling usernames: You may not buy or sell Twitter usernames".

If it has value and be a driver for your business I'd hang onto it.

Best of luck

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks I'm aware of the ruling, I suppose I would sell the website and give the account away for free. You can transfer Twitter handles as part of a business sale but this wouldn't be applicable as it's not a business I'm selling. So I guess giving it away for free would be fine!

Cheers
