Terminating Partnership

Hi

I'm thinking of closing our business partnership with my missus as we haven't really traded yet and she isn't taking much interest in the business idea anymore. Do we just contact the Inland Revenue and NI to tell them we are not self-employed anymore and that's that?

Are these the best steps?

Hi, just checked and these forms are for companies. They are available from Companies House so will not work for me

You will need to inform the Revenue in writing of the date of cessation of your joint self employment. Probably best to put this in the accounts section as Joy there gives excellent advice and there are some other issues (tax wise) to take into account (no pun intended) when providing the termination date if you have earned via the business.

yeah, I rang them up and told them when my self-employment ceased. We also wrote a letter just to confirm.

I think that's all I need to do.
