T&C's -legalities?

I am in the process of writing out our t&c's for our new website. They are pretty straight forward covering refunds, returns, payment, delivery and privacy policy.
A business colleague once told me her solicitor wrote her t&c's but she has a much bigger and complex business than us, but it made me wonder if people generally write their own or have a solicitor do it?

I just want to say that as a member of a forum which has advertised misprices, of which thousands of people have been able to take advantage because of T&C's not being sufficient - make sure you include a bit about placing an order does not mean it is accepted and if a product has been mispriced you reserve the right to offer it at the correct price or to cancel the order - or similar.

Sorry, it doesn't answer your question!

I would definitely advise getting a commercial solicitor to draft terms and conditions.

Think of it this way, if you never need to rely on them, then it has been money invested in protection. The first time you need to rely on them to protect you, then the cost of drafting them will almost certainly be repaid with interest.

My most common problem is enforcing badly drafted terms and conditions, get it right at the start, and you are protected, its as simple as that.

All of the clients who have come to us as mature businesses to rewrite their terms and conditions have experienced issues with their own terms and conditions not being clear enough.

For the cost of an insured service run by trained and experienced commercial lawyers it is not worth the risk for the cost involved. If you would like a quote please email [email protected] with brief details and you will get same day quote. Turnaround time from order is 3 working days on standard service or within 24 hours on premium service option.

Contract terms of any kind should be seen as an investment in risk mitigation and due diligence. As well as the comments above about a small investment now leading to potential cost savings in the future, you may find that professionally drafted and well-presented t's & c's set you apart from your competitors and demonstrate that your business takes a robust approach to all aspects of its online presence.
