Back in 2009 we did a kitchen through the company we were then buying from. In 2010 that company folded.

This year, one of the doors on that kitchen we supplied has yellowed (its white). So as the original supplier doesn't exist, I had to find the door manufacturer and approach them, as normally I'd go through my supplier.

I did this at Easter, and have had to chase and chase for them to come out and see the door (something they said they'd have to do). The rep has been rude, obnoxious and unpleasant. Eventually a couple of weeks back he went to see client.

He saw the door in question, and thought that 3 or 4 more were likely to go, so suggested all doors in the whole kitchen are replaced to my surprise.

However, what I am really annoyed about is that, despite the fact they are under guarantee, and that it was THEM that suggested not 1, but ALL doors are replaced, they are now expecting me to pay for the fitting of all the new doors, and I'm responsible for getting the old doors back! They're making out they're doing me a favour but I say they're most certainly not.

I'm horrified because the doors are faulty, still under guarantee, yet I'm to pay for fitting them. I could have sorted 1 door, but not 15 or 16, and not forgetting it was them who said replace them all!

What's my situation here? I think it's bang out of order.

Thanks, Mark

The product maybe still under guarantee but the installation won't be. Normally companies give 6 months on the installation, the guarantee is only brought in if the installation was wrong, in this case from what I understand from what you've said, it's the discoloration and not the installation that's an issue... therefore they can charge for installation but not for the replacement doors.

Give them a call and tell them that it's their recommendation to change ALL the doors therefore they should be doing it cheaper... it's only a punt but it may be fruitful.
