Hi,
Running gaming events, people can play on retro, new, computer games.

I'm better then my competitor because of price for tickets.
We also have better locations, more friendly vibe.

Currently our slogan is "Save Hard.Game Hard"
The other would be "Save more.Game More"
The problem is we think people might think you have to save more money to get in, with these slogan.

Word value doesn't go with anything game.

Any ideas?

I wouldn't associate these slogans with an event but more an online store selling games. A gaming event to me would have a slogan like 'Play Hard and then Play Harder' or 'Game your 'bits' off' if you want a bit of a play on words (bit crude but you get the idea). Something aimed at your target market which I presume is 15-30's ?

Price alone doesn't necessarily make you 'better' than your competitors. Have you researched their hardware, power, resilience, insurance etc and how they market themselves (how big their customer base is and how much of it you think you could draw towards you) ?

thanks for your reply,
target is 25-40 as its also retro and classic games
per show they take in about 8-10k people, our aim is 1-2k as we have better location and lower price, we also have sponsors from big retails which they'll be helping advertise.

They are bigger and cover more computer systems. They mainly advertising using sponsor on facebook.

I thought price would matter on slogan as Walmart is "Save More, Better live" and price is a area we can beat are competition.

Does that help?

"Save More, Better live" ? That doesn't make any sense to me?

I still think if it is an event then the emphasis (and therefore slogan) should be on the activity and the enjoyment rather than the cost. Perhaps other members on here can contribute some ideas. Good to see that you have some big name sponsors.

The problem with making it better, is the competitor is covering everything to do with gaming, so there is nothing new I could include. Any of the big events there all the same.

Also my room size is smaller but better location.

Customers shop at poundshop or Lidi because they know its cheaper then tesco an they do well.

My focus was value, location, colourful atmosphere, newtech.

Hate to say it, but if your only differentiator is price, you're already losing.

Take music festivals as an example. Smaller festivals still go up against Glastonbury, T in the Park, IOW Festival. Where they differentiate is things like choice of acts, including stand up comedy, being family friendly etc etc. None of them advertise just on the basis that they are cheaper to get into.

Do some research into what people hate about the other gaming event you're competing with, solve those issues and market that you're different on that basis.

You mentioned in your first post friendlier vibe...why do you have a friendlier vibe? Can you turn that into a differentiator?

As someone who has been a gamer since the early 80's, travelled to many LAN events and is still an avid gamer at nearly 50, I dont think the price factor will be a major one in your customers eyes. The end result (fun) is the factor that will sell to them.

Some of the best gaming sessions I have been in, were in warehouses or disused shops. It is all about the quality of the games available and the atmosphere. To me this is what any slogan should focus on. Personally speaking, if I was to see an event advertised as budget in anyway. I would probably keep walking.

Maximise on quality and fun elements, and dont focus on differentiating from your competition just for the sake of it. Go back to focusing on what the end user will get out of it

Golf industry invited women to attend the UKs biggest trade show free versus 10 quid

I said that was totally out of order but was told that they wanted more women to take up the game and this would encourage that, how about MORE PEOPLE and make the show better I asked, nope, women get in free, I was then given the 3rd degree by many asking do i have a problem with women playing golf (Nope, i have a problem with that shows door policy).

Notice, their offer was WOMEN FREE, not couples pay 2 for 1 etc i.e. MEN always had to pay women NEVER had to pay!

So if that flies, the 2 for 1 offer certainly is fine, it can work both ways obviously.

Probably a post about this issues under my old user i.d. which i can no longer sign into BEASTY
