Skype - anyone use it?

Anyone use Skype?
Or how about any VOIP programs?

I've tried a few of them and I use Skype (and SkypeIn, VM and SkypeOut) and a true VOIP one using Firefly as a softphone, Sipgate for incoming and 1899 for outgoing calls - this gives a 100% free service, both in and out!!

Quality is improving all the time.....

Yeah, I am a Skype user personally and its work just fine.

Dont think its best suited to serious business applications, as it is lacking in many of the true features that must PBX's provide.

Skype comes from the data world, not the voice world. How many times does your PC crash ? How many times does a voice switch crash ?

You pay for what you get. Communication is a key tool for delivering customer service and staff efficiency so why skimp on it ? Bad communication tools usually means bad business.

I would say that Skype is great for family and friends and point to point stuff, but for serious business applications you should consider a communications platform that is stable, reliable, scalable and modular.

Something that can help you to deliver and roll out other software applications that again will integrate with voice, data and video elements of your business and network.

Something that can support your business objectives going forward and built around a technology plan.

There are many ways of achieveing this and Skype may or may not be the right way.
