Shopping Cart

Hi all

Can anyone recommend to me a free shopping cart program. I tried oscommerce.com last night and my head just spun with everything you had to do and found half the files were missing. I want a simple shopping cart and I don't want for people to have to register their details to log in etc. All I want is for them to pay when they have selected an item from my shop. Is this possible?

Regards

Chris

there are modifications you can get for osc so clients don't need to register to buy.

I would stick with it, it is a very powerful cart and a couple of days working with it should be more than enough.

Apart from that, try cubecart, not sure it is any easier though.......

We use RomanCart http://www.romancart.com

RomanCart is free if you don't want to accept card payments, otherwise it costs just £40 GBP per year (exc vat) to link to a payment gateway or to encrypt card details for you to manually enter them into a swipe machine.

Apart from that they have an excellent forum and the support is A1.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I'll try oscommerce again though but can someone translate this following sentence into easy non techy english if possible

"Using phpMyAdmin or another tool, create your database and user, and assign that user to the database. Write down the name of the database, username, and password for this database for the database installation procedure."

What database is he talking about???

Cheers

You should have a control panel with your hosting, you need to access that, find the MySQL database part, then...

1) Create a new database

2) Create a new user (and password)

3) Assign user to database

You will then need to add this information when asked to the installation process, often in the format

hostingusername_databasename
hostingusername_databaseusername
password

if you get any problems and need a hand just pm me and I will install it for you. (feeling generous today :D )

WOW Guys you are all superstars. I really really appreciate what you've done for me.

At the moment Raven Fire is sorting it all out for me.

But if there is anything else I need I would love to ask you guys again.

Cheers for everything and I really mean that :D
