Selling on ebay

I'm considering using ebay (as well as other methods) to sell my sotware products, however I wonder if it might be the right medium to do that.

Say you have an unlimited supply of Product X and want to sell them on ebay, surely people wouldn't have to bid for them? Also, how much would it cost to get them listed?

Has anyone ever tried to use ebay in that way? Is it an idea I should consider?

There is a facility which allows you to sell products on a "buy it now" basis, instead of an auction. This means that you set the price, get instant payment on Paypal and also state how many are available.

It can be a good way to get sales, but also a good way to get traffic to your site, if you put in a cheeky link :lol:

You could say something like - this is a selection of our best sellers - or something like that.

Clever! I didn't think of that.

I'm going to be selling my software as a download at first, so I was thinking of sending buyers an email with a link to the download as and when they buy it.

You are not allowed to put in links to your own website within auctions but you are allowed to do in on your me page or in your eBay shop. They will pull auctions that have links on them so it's not worth it IMO.

I think you can get away with including the web address on any pictures you have of your products

This worked very well indeed for someone I know.

We used to do a few ebay autions with links. Until we got told off.

So you could add the links and see what happens

Well, I'm soon to be a Powerseller (just waiting for my invite) and I have always included links on my auctions. I include at least 4 on every auction I create. There's one on the logo, then near my logo there's a hyperlink, then I'll put "more sizes on our website" with a link... and I've never been told off for it. I've also started to include buy it now buttons that will place the item in my sites basket! Cheeky I know, but worth it!

Its often worth looking at ebay for selling products, just because of the volume of people who use it.

It is also as cheap as marketing can get.
