Self Delivery to EU

Hi All,

A company in France has bought a piece of used equipment from us. I would like to put this in a van and deliver it in person as I am keen to go and meet these folks. Can anyone advise what I need to do to get it thought the port / customs. Price is Euros 2000.

You should be able use this procedure to get yourself out of the UK assuming the goods don’t exceed the maximum weight criteria

I haven’t come across a simplified process for arriving in France though. You may need get a customs broker to declare or chance making a verbal declaration on arrival. Perhaps you customer can do a bit of local research for you.

There's a fair chance they won't even check the van. If they do, they may not even care.

To respond to Smithco I would never suggest to someone to smuggle goods into another country especially when there a quite simple legitimate ways of doing something. Why risk getting caught at the time or giving your customer grief with their tax authorities later down the line.
Unfortunately one of the consequences of Brexit it that customs declarations are required for movements between UK and EU. There are no exceptions .
You can approach a customs official and tell them you have commercial goods this is known as giving an oral declaration which is allowed for in law.
