Hello
I am in a dilema as to what to do. Notified last Tues. that due to financial difficulties the company needs to restructure. I was given 3 options.
1. voluntary redundancy
2. possible compulsary redundancy
3. work until 31st July and leave (with nothing) Is this correct????
During the month of July the company will submit new 'restructured' job positions which I can apply for.
My current contact is continuous providing there is appropriate funds to pay me. Aparantly I will receive a new contact on Monday - but have to decide before a further meeting on wednesday which option I want to take. It is likely that more than half of the positions will go - there are 8 staff this applies to! The company reserves the right to refuse VRs in the interest of maintaining a balanced & efficient workforce!
The background to the company is that we have had no acting CEO for 18 months now - we are a charity and currently controlled by Trustees - who really do not have a knowledge of how hard we actually work. They have known about the finances for 12 months now action needs to be taken.
Around xmas time 3 staff left, leaving myself + 1 other to oversee Admin work. The 'other' had a disgraceful track record of absence. When the 'so called' personnel office left in Dec. It was noticed that no sickness record had been kept - put it this way - the 'other' had 25 days off in 3 months - no records!!! Anyhow this 'other' has not been into work since Jan - sick notes have been forthcoming though. Her contract was due for renewal 31st March - she had a meeting with one of our Trustees early April, which I thought resulted in VR being offered - but I found out on Tues. that this had not been the case & she received the same options as I did (stated above) - she has been paid FULL pay since Jan.
I have carried her workload since Jan. I feel total used & let down my the company. Oh they told me back in Feb what a good job I am doing carrying 4 peoples workload & keeping the company going.
Should I take the VR & run?
Please help...... thanks (sorry it's a long post)
