RedNerve Media Website Review

We are celebrating the launch of our new website design company, RedNerve Media. Please check out the site at www.rednerve.com and give me some opinions on what you all think to it!

A rating out of 10 would be nice and comments about what you like / dislike about it etc. I am currently in the process of adding more graphics, but even so, comments are welcomed!

Thanks again, will7.

The right hand end of the top grey bar finishes half way across the click here button beneath it. The bottom grey bar looks right to me and ends lined up with the right hand end of the button..

A lot of people have a screen res below 1024x768 and are going to have to scroll sideways to see the page. Or maybe you have determined that your target market comprises solely owners of high res monitors who always browse at full screen?

The pages are not XHTML1.0, if you are going to rely on Dreamweaver, then you can set it so that it generates code which matches your chosen Doctype. I don't use it myself, but I think that is possible.

I don't understand your slogan, what are you redefining the web as? :)

On your FAQs page you say

"Q: How long will my project take to be completed?
A: There is no answer to this!"

Sounds bad. Wouldn't it be better to say something like "Completion dates and timescales are agreed with you before we start work..."

Thanks for the compliments tommy.

Microbe, the text on the pages will be slightly rewritten as there is minor changes that I myself wish to make.

And yes, we have determined that are target market will be using 1024 x 768, however, we are working on getting that bottom bar sorted out. Not many people use any resolution below 1024 x 768 ;)

Thanks for the reviews guys!

Quite pleasant site, not too wordy, loads fast, but would make the following comments in addition to comments above about sideways scrolling.

Text too small, grey and not resizable. - make it bigger and make it resizable.

You have highlighted a couple of words but could use highlight more to emphasis key phrases.

Your logo could be bigger and also it could be a link to your home page.

Visited links could colour up so that visitors have some idea of how much of the site they have visited and how much is left to see.

The following sentence on 'company' page reads a bit strange but didn't find any other typos

"We strive to achieve only the best results and through understanding of design fundamentals and usability as well as aesthetical design, we do. "

On your list of what rednerve can do for you I would like to see the following:

"We work with you to provide a website your customers want."

Not quite true.

According to http://www.thecounter.com/ in Feb 2005 at least 28% use less than 1024 x 768

1024x768 (54%)
800x600 (28%)
1280x1024 (10%)
1152x864 (3%)
Unknown (2%)
1600x1200 (0%)
640x480 (0%)

As I said, if you know your market, fine, that is up to your own judgement.

As a generalisation though, a lot of people do still have screen res below 1024x768, W3 Schools which has a fairly geek audience who one would expect to be equipped with better than average kit reckons 29% of their visitors have 800 x 600.

On top of that, many people use multiple windows, so even if they have a screen res higher than 1024 x 768, it is not wise to assume they browse at full screen.

I have made some changes and it should work fine on all resolutions (other than 800 x 600) now. And you shouldn't need to maximise the window to view it all - there shouldn't be any horz. scroll bars, even if you don't maximise.

Check it out and tell me if I'm right!

I know, I am damn close to it displaying in 800 x 600. That'll have to do, I'm not going through the work to change it over a few pixels.

If they're dumb enough to use 800 x 600, then they can pay the price, lol! And thanks for the luck!
