Set up a Company

Hello all

I would like to send out a newsletter to all of our customers and keep track of who opened it, deleted it, clicked which link, etc.

Can anybody recommend an email tool? I'm looking for simplicity and good value for money.

Best Regards

Simon

We have email marketing included within our CRM system at WeCanDo.Biz. It's £23 a month and for that you get 5,000 email credits included. You can easily add more for larger campaigns. If you sign for a year you get two months free.

Obviously we are UK based and work closely with the UK ISPs/MSPs to ensure we stay whitelisted and get high delivery rates.

A number of UK business networks use us for member correspondence.

If you have any questions just fire away.

Hi Simon,
We use a platform called Dotmailer. It gives you (amongst other things):
* Delivery stats
* Open rates
* Who clicked on which links
* Forwarder report ie where your mail has been onforwarded
* Bounce rates to allow you to clean your CRM
* Graphical overview of link placements and clicks
* Campaign to campaign comparisons
* Global supression lists
* Immediat and scheduled sends
* Various pricing packages orn you can leverage ous (see below)
And lots more.

We actually manage campaigns both large and small for our customers and as our PA's are trained on your products and services we then proactively engage the "clickers and forwarders" with a follow-up call and schedule an appointment for you in a diary you can sync with Outlook, Blackberry etc.

Would be happy to discuss how we could be of assistance or even to point you in the right direction with Dotmailer and share our experience. Call on 0207 0846 222

Davinci Virtual Offices provides Virtual Reception, PA and Telephone Answering services in addition to Virtual Office addresses at over 170 locations across the UK and 750 worldwide. We provide Admin support and managed E-marketing assistance to various industry sectors.

Best regards,

Steve

I have signed up to a free account with mailchimp. I want to be able to send professional looking e-mails to my club members with graphics etc but can't seem to find a simple way of doing this in mail chimp.

It seems I have to build a campaign every time I want to e-mail someone.

Hi Christine,
You tend to find open rates are influenced by 2 key factors:

The subject heading - is it compelling enough so that in "preview mode" in Outlook for example someone will click on it it

The "send from" address or friendly name. We tend to use an approach of:
When sending to people you know i.e existing customers, tell them who you are as they are more likely to open it e.g Davinci Virtual Support Team or your Davinci Virtual PA.

When sending to cold prospects use an individuals name and you can be a little cheeky by preceeding the subject heading with Re: (so it makes it look like a reply)

Good luck!

I only ever send newsletters to clients who have opted-in. But still got a lot of unopened and even a few complaints.

One particularly puzzled me, I had had a lot of dealings with them and knew they were thrilled with Hofnote, so I wrote to ask why they had complained when they could just have de-registered. They were adamant that they hadn't complained and wanted to receive the newsletter. But of course I could not re-instate them afterwards.

I found it quite dis-heartening as it was only ever a newsy mag about things to do with music ( composer of the month and that sort of thing) and never 'selling'.

Christine,
With the package you're using are you able to monitor clicks / forwards etc?

This can help you with identifying the behaviours of your recipients and where best to place links within your email shot.

Some tools like what we use also provide a facility called "split line testing". What it does is you set up 3 subject headings for example and then set a % and timethreshold.

I.e send 5% to recipients and then wait 1 hour and then based on the most successful open rate (based on the 3 different subject headings) send the remainder using the most successful.

I think I am looking to re-launch as I dropped it with the issues I was getting. But I am waiting to get the email service integrated with my site database so that if someone unsubscribes by changing their details on the site it is updated automatically.

And that is waiting on a developer finishing what he is doing now to the site before I can commission that. I also want to segment the lists more so that it is more appropriate for different age ranges.

Otherwise there is a huge amount of work updating the list each time before sending it.

As many other have said, Mailchimp seems to be the best option. Be sure to check out their Resources page too - plenty of valuable information there about the best ways to set up your campaign. Happy email marketing! :)

It's hard to argue with a free solution, but we offer a low-cost option if your list grows above the free threshold of other solutions.

We have a small business package at £29 per month fixed fee, with unlimited emailing. We custom build a HTML email template for you too.

All the standard reports and stats are included.
