When should i do it exactly. The message just says your protection runs out on 16 july today. Do i have to unistall anything before downloading AVG and how do i do that!

Laymans terms please as not very tecchy but I dont do something i wont have any protection tomorrow?

Err that's the wrong order.

1. Download AVG FREE and save it on the PC
2. Uninstall Trend Micro Internet Security
3. Reboot
4. Install AVG FREE

If you are connected to the internet directly not via a router you should disconnect from the internet before removing trend micro then once AVG is installed re-connect to the internet.

Can't believe anyone would advise removing the current AV before downloading the new one, not a wise thing to do.

A little tip to make your AVG experience a little smoother, particularly if you are not the most PC-minded of people.......

1) go into AVG (double click the little icon bottom right of your screen)

2) choose 'tools' Menu at top, then 'Advanced Settings'

3) click on 'Resident Shield' on the left hand menu

4) Tick the 'Autoheal' box on the page that displays (right of the menu).

5) then double click 'Schedules' from the left menu

6) Change it from 'Every Day' to 'Selected Days' for the Run Interval setting.

7) Choose a day, two days, or more according to how heavily you browse the internet, download stuff, etc. the average soho user can manage quite well on two days per week, rather than have a scan every single day in life. You can always run a manual scan if you have been particularly busy, or have spied something untoward.

Ooops, also then click on APPLY, or the changes will not be saved lol.
