We've recently updated our website, it's now easier to navigate and view the product for what it is. We think we did ok…

From your perspective is it our products or website that is not helping to generate sales? I've been reading through a lot of other posts and find that there are lots of us that are having the same problem. Has anyone been able to find a solution that works or increases sales?

After looking through our website can you see area's that could use improvement? Do you have any solutions that might be more effective than adwords? Is the site easy to understand?

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

There's your problem right there. If you want to sell in England you need to send people to an English language site without them having to change the country/language.

Also the currency in England is British Pounds and you show the prices in Bulgarian currency, Euros or US Dollars.

There are other issues but they may not be relevant to the market you are aiming at.

I think the link to the english version could be more porminent. If you have an average just over 2 seconds before someone goes to another site (can't remember where I read that but from my own experience I'm sure its true) then unless it is either in english from the go or at the very least in with a very obvious english language button no one will bother staying.

Also I wasn't sure what you wanted users to do when they reached your site.

For instance there are many choices but no help in which to choose. Think about your MWR (most wanted response) for the page and then make that obvious. For first timers to the site you need something like a "Start here" kind of button or a "New to the site" button in a very obvious place on the front page. Then use the page they go do to introduce the site and get people looking around.

I'm told that people in general can only make a choice if there are no more than 9 things to choose from (5 is much better 9 is maximum). If they have more choices in general they will choose to go somewhere else.

I counted up to 20 on your page and then got bored its probably more like 40. If there is no way to reduce this then give some big clues as to which choice to make first and only give five options like this.

Hope this helps

Chris

I agree with the above.
I nearly gave up when it was all in what I presume is Bulgar however eventually found the link.

It's also not so clear what you do. only by searching can you find out if the company delivers bulgarian gifts in the UK or in bulgaria!

agree also with the point about the currency, usually people based in the UK will want to spend stirling.

can I suggest a welcome page with a prominent redirect button such as the national flags for which language you want to view and then a bit about the service you offer before launcing into a massive display of almost all of your products ( well that's what it seemed like).

Is this market huge? are there a lot of bulgarians in the UK or are you aiming at an international market? just curious.

generally though the site looks professional.

Hi,
If you're attempting to sell into the uk - I suggest you add a script that checks and displays an English Site straight away if the browser is from the UK.

Also put your prices in £ instead of.. 47.00 BGN - this price will scare off most UK visitors if all they want to do is buy a gift basket. Most of the products can be purchased from a local supermarket anyway so you could make them more unique.

Your site looks russian maybe? So why not sell Traditional Russian goods (If Russian was right) to the English and the European goods (The Douwe Egberts and Toblerones) to the Russians?

It looks to me like it's aimed purely at the Bulgarian market and I immediately think that I shouldn't be ordering from it. There is nothing to indicate otherwise even if it is in English.

Prices in English and even possibly different landing pages for each country could address this issue so that you can supply marketing blurb in the relevant language targeted to the relavent market.

Also consider buying domain names for each country that you are selling in and use them or indicate via the url which countries site is being viewed, i.e. region=uk rather than l=2. It's a minor thing but something that I would look for if I'm unsure about whether I can purchase from there or not.

Thanks,

Ben

Your main problem is that you're selling foodstuffs and the photography is not up to scratch. From the quality of the photography, it looks as though the foods are being stored in dark, dirty conditions.

I provide a professional product photography service but, due to the distances involved here, I probably can't help on this occaision.

Mark :)
